The Stars announced today the addition of Jeff Bloomer as an Assistant Coach. The coaching opportunity opened up with the late summer departure of former Assistant Aaron Corbiere, who last week accepted the Head Coach position with the Mattawa Blackhawks of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL).
Jeff took up hockey in Montana at the age of 4 where he played until he was 16. He moved on to Northwood Prep in Lake Placid where he played alongside former NHLer’s Craig Conroy, Chris Therien, Jim Campbell and a couple of guys named Esposito (Tony and Phil JR). While there he had the distinction to play in Hockey Night in Boston.
After High School, Jeff entertained several collegiate offers but eventually settled on Gustavus Adolphus College (NCAA Division III) in St. Peter, Minnesota. Jeff lettered all four years at GAC and was hired during his senior year to coach the JV team.
Upon graduation Jeff was hired by the Great Falls Americans (AWHL Tier II) team as an assistant coach and a year later joined the Billings Bulls for two seasons before becoming a Head Coach with the Wyoming Outlaws of the AFHL. In 1998 Jeff moved to Jackson Hole, WY where he coached and ran the Jackson Youth Hockey Association until his move to Dallas in 2012.
Jeff has been very active within USA Hockey and has been an evaluator and coach at the RMD Select Camp for 20 years. He was an assistant and head coach with the Select 15s winning both a Bronze and Gold medal in St. Cloud, MN.
JR Stars’ GM Reggie Hall said, “we are happy to land a coach of this caliber so late in the summer and really believe that Jeff will bring a ton of experience to our staff.”
