Dallas Jr. Stars Move Another On To The NCAA

July 2, 2014

The Stars announced today that Brandon Salisbury (F) has committed to play collegiate hockey at Daniel Webster College for the 2014/15 season. He becomes the fifth member of the Stars’ inaugural squad to move to either Division II or III hockey for the coming year.

Salisbury is a Dallas native and played his entire youth hockey career locally and the last four seasons he played in the Dallas JR Stars’ organization.

Head Coach Jason Deitsch said, “at 5’10” and 180 lbs, Brandon certainly wasn’t one of our bigger players last year but he plays much bigger than he actually is. His strength and conditioning regimen was second to none on our team and he was a punishing hitter. Opponents just hated to see him coming into the corner to get the puck and along the wall he was very effective.”

Salisbury appeared in 35 regular season games last season and put up 7G, 9A and 16P. He amassed 89 minutes in penalties. During the Stars’ playoff run he appeared in all seven games and had 2G, 3A and 5P. In the playoffs he was a +8.

After making the decision Salisbury said, “I really enjoyed the experience of playing this level of Junior hockey here at home. The Dallas JR Stars gave me a chance to improve my game and provided me tremendous exposure. I am going to miss playing with the JR Stars next season but I am excited about now playing NCAA hockey.”

Daniel Webster College is located in Nashua, NH and will play an independent schedule this season and has made application to become a member of the ECAC for the 2015/16 season.
