The Dallas Jr Stars announced today that Forward Tommy Stock has committed to Franklin Pierce University (New Hampshire) for the 2014/15 season. Stock becomes the second Stars’ forward to make the jump directly into the NCAA ranks for next year. Franklin Pierce is a Division II school playing in the Northeast 10 Conference.
Stock, a 5’10”, 180lb native of Chicago joined the expansion Jr Stars in the off season from the Brahmas of the WSHL and stepped into the lineup and made an immediate impact. A durable player, Stock has appeared in all 37 games so far this season putting up 17 goals, 23 assists and 40 points, including three game winning goals. He has been a workhorse for the Stars when shorthanded with four of his goals coming while a man down.
Franklin Pierce Head Coach Jaymie Harrington said, “we are very excited to get Tommy into our program. I think he certainly helps our program move closer to our goals. Tommy is going to be able to step into our program and contribute right away. The coaching staff in Dallas was excellent during the recruiting process and they certainly helped us reach this point.”
Last August the Stock family made the decision to join the Jr Stars believing the organization and staff would be the best fit for Tommy and his goal of playing NCAA hockey. The family issued this statement after the announcement, “We are very happy with the Dallas Jr Stars and our decision to join your club last fall. We believe the Stars’ organization is moving Junior hockey in this area in the right direction because you care about the individual player, his goals and success and not just about the money.”
Stars’ Head Coach Jason Deitsch commented, “Tommy has been a guy that has worked and improved all year and it is great to see his efforts pay off.”
The Stars extend our congratulations to Tommy and wish him a great collegiate career.
