Dunk Abbott Signs With Dells Ducks August 15, 2012 7:21 AM
Experience matters. When building a team you can never have too much experience on the blue line. The Dells Ducks addition of Dunk Abbott provides championship level experience and quality leadership.
Abbott played last season for the America West Hockey League Champion Missoula Maulers. Joining the Maulers late last season, playing in 43 games including playoffs, Abbott produced 24 points, was a plus 27, and amassed 123 penalty minutes. Coaches in the AWHL made it clear all season that he was a defender that they did not enjoy playing against.
Known to be a gritty, defense first player, Abbott can distribute the puck and put points on the board. In 37 games during the NorPAC 2010-2011 season with Butte, Abbott also showed consistancy producing 14 points and accumulating 70 PIM’s.
"Dunk is a very good two way dman with a lot of grit to him." Said Head Coach Bill Zaniboni "A recent Division 1 football player at University of Montana had desided to follow his love and pursue a college hockey dream. When Dunk contacted me late in the summer he was on the fence about going to school and playing another year of juniors. I told him with it being so late he should play another year of junior hockey. Dunk is going to be a great addition to the back and with his grades he will be very marketable to move up to the next level."
Joining the Ducks defense, Abbott is looking to add to his Championship ring collection this season in the MNJHL.
