Ottawa 67’s forward Filip Ekberg and London Knights defenceman Linus Funck have been named to Sweden’s roster for the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, taking place July 26 to Aug. 1 in Windsor, Ont.
The annual event serves as the opening evaluation camp ahead of the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship in Alberta, with Sweden joining Canada, Finland and the United States for a five-game schedule.
Ekberg returns to the international stage following another productive season with the 67’s. The 19-year-old from Uppsala, Sweden recorded 24 goals and 22 assists for 46 points in 59 games during the 2025-26 campaign and has totalled 91 points (46-45-91) in 112 career OHL games. He also starred for Sweden at the 2025 IIHF U18 World Championship, leading the tournament with 10 goals while recording 18 points in seven games.
Funck earns the call after a strong first season with the defending Memorial Cup champion London Knights. Selected by London in the first round (58th overall) of the 2025 CHL Import Draft, the 6-foot-3 defenceman recorded four goals and 18 assists for 22 points in 65 regular season games before adding a goal in three playoff appearances. The Luleå, Sweden native was also selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft.
Sweden opens the World Junior Summer Showcase against the United States on July 26 before taking on the United States once again, Canada and Finland to conclude the event.
