While the saga that is Sherry Bassin, is not quite over, the sale of the OHL’s Erie Otters through United States Bankruptcy Court is.
James A. Waters a retired Canadian broadcast executive closed on the $7,225,000 purchase of the Erie Otters, which have been in bankruptcy nearly four months.
The Otters’ bankruptcy trustee plans to pay all the team’s creditors in full, with as much as $1.8 million remaining for Bassin.
Roy Mlakar will run the day to day operations of the Otters for new owner Jim Waters. He has already met with the Otters’ front office staff. Mlakar brings a lot of NHL experience to Erie. He served as CEO of the Ottawa Senators, and was President of the Los Angeles Kings.
With the change in ownership complete, a page is turned for the Erie Otters, and a new chapter in their story can begin to be written. What the incoming authors do with the reaming story is yet to be seen.
