Five other series confirmed!

Tonight’s results confirmed five more QMJHL series, following the one between the Moncton Wildcats, first in the East, and the Québec Remparts, eighth, announced earlier this week. Here they are:

Eastern Conference

2- Rimouski Océanic vs. 7- Charlottetown Islanders

3- Chicoutimi Saguenéens vs. 6- Acadie-Bathurst Titan

4- Baie-Comeau Drakkar vs 5- Cape Breton Eagles

  • The Eagles could finish with 75 points, like the Drakkar has actually, but the latter already boasts 33 wins in regular time or overtime (VRP), as opposed to 31 for the Eagles. The first tie-breaker, if necessary, would therefore go to Baie-Comeau.

Western Conference

3- Shawinigan Cataractes vs. 6- Val-d’Or Foreurs

4- Blainville-Boisbriand Armada vs 5- Sherbrooke Phoenix

  • The Drummondville Voltigeurs’ 4-2 win in Sherbrooke confirmed their Western Conference title. It now remains to be seen whether they will face the Halifax Mooseheads or the Gatineau Olympiques in the first round, both of whom have 47 points. Halifax hosts Charlottetown and Gatineau welcomes Drummondville to end the season tomorrow. Note that the first tie-breaker, wins in regular time or overtime (ROW), goes to Halifax, 17-13.
  • The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, in 2nd place, are also waiting to see whether they’ll play Halifax or Gatineau.

The Victoriaville Tigres were already eliminated. The Saint John Sea Dogs’ 4-1 loss to the Cape Breton Eagles confirmed their elimination.

Schedules for all series will be announced late Saturday evening.
