The Ontario Hockey League is mourning the loss of former London Knights goaltender Frank Caprice who passed away on Thursday at the age of 63.
Born in Hamilton, Caprice played three seasons with the Knights from 1979-82, going 38-49-5, helping London reach the playoffs in his final season. Caprice played on Knights teams that also featured such names as Dave Simpson, George Burnett, Brian Bradley and Basil McRae. He also backstopped Canada to gold at the 1982 World Juniors.
A ninth round pick by the Vancouver Canucks in 1981, Caprice played parts of six NHL seasons with the franchise, going 31-46-11 with a 4.20 goals-against average and .859 save percentage. Following his time in the NHL, Caprice played professionally for several years before retiring with the Ayr Scottish Eagles in 1999.
