Former NAHL Trainer Charged With Murder

Richard Schmelzer, of Frisco Texas, the former head athletic trainer of the Texas Tornado has been charged with murdering his Grandmother in Kane County Illinois.

The grandson of Mildred “Dodie” Darrington was been arrested by U. S. Marshalls outside his home in Frisco, Texas, and charged with her July 18 murder.

Bail was set at $5 million by Judge John Barsanti. Schmelzer is jailed in Denton County, Texas, awaiting extradition back to Illinois.
