Gandara makes commitment to NCAA DI American International May 16, 2012 6:56 AM May 16, 2012 6:56 AM

Former Chicago Hitmen forward David Gandara, who played his past season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), has announced his commitment to NCAA Division I American International College (AIC) of the Atlantic Hockey Assocation (AHA). AIC has played in the Atlantic Hockey Association since 1998.

Gandara was second in team scoring this season with 52 points (21 goals, 31 assists) in 60 games played. He also played on team Midwest at the 2012 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament back in February in Troy, Michigan.

Brent Agrusa, who coached David each of the last two seasons, first in California for the California Stars U18 AAA team and then last season with the Hitmen, credits Gandara’s “unparalleled work ethic” for his success.

This commitment marks the first Division I commitment by a former Chicago Hitmen player.
