Generals’ Luke Torrance commits to the University of New Brunswick

Oshawa Generals overage forward Luke Torrance has announced his commitment to the University of New Brunswick for the 2025-26 USports hockey season. 

A native of Oshawa, Ont., Luke Torrance was selected 213th overall by his hometown club in the eleventh round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-1 winger has spent all four season with the Generals and has continued to progress offesnively. During the 2024-25 campaign, he was the assistant captain and posted a career-high 53 points (24-29–53) over 64 regular-season games and helped the team reach their second straight OHL Championship Final.

Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the University of New Brunswick is home to the UNB Reds, a U Sports men’s hockey team that competes in the AUS conference. The Reds have captured 10 U Sports national titles, including back-to-back championships in 2023 and 2024. They also made history with a remarkable 57-game win streak spanning the regular season, playoffs, and exhibition contests.

Torrance is the third OHL player to join the UNB Reds for the 2025-26 season, joining Gage Hayes of the Kingston Frontenacs and Luca D’Amato of the Oshawa Generals.
