GMHL Teams To Change Season Start Date

Many readers have been pointing out now that some GMHL teams were recruiting players telling them that they will start training camps in September and Games in the beginning of October.

This is not going to happen in Ontario.

The GMHL like every other league in Ontario will not be playing games until the Ministry of Heath allows arena’s to open fully for play.

This is not a Hockey Canada rule, it is a Canadian and Province of Ontario rule and it is enforceable by fines and potential arena closures.

Again, NO ONE is playing hockey in Ontario until the government says so.

The GMHL confirmed via email that these changes were coming.

Don’t be one of these players who is giving any team money before the government says they are allowing for 5 on 5 play. That is not likely to happen until November at the soonest.

There will not be an October schedule or September start to the any season in Ontario.
