Gold Miners run win streak to 4

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners got a pair of goals and an assist from both Brayden Stortz and Logan Fredericks to help them win their fourth Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League game in a row as they defeated the Espanola Express 6-3 at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Each side would tally twice in the opening frame with Stortz and Fredericks sandwiching markers around a pair by Espanola’s Joel Grandbois.

The Gold Miners supplied both goals that were scored in the middle session as Marc-Antoine Arseneau and Fredericks tallied six minutes apart.

Grandbois helped set-up Dominik Lavergne to bring the Express closer early in the third, but the home team got later efforts from Kameron Shearer and Stortz to round out the night’s scoring.

Alex Hester and Jesse Houlton had two assists apiece for Kirkland Lake in the decision.
