Gold Miners sign Romain

KIRKLAND LAKE – Since the day the season ended Kirkland Lake Gold Miners’ General Manager and Head Coach Marc Lafleur has been busy preparing for the 2014-2015 NOJHL campaign. Lafleur has announced the signing of a player who is very familiar to Kirkland Lake fans and did, briefly play for the squad.

Timmins native and former Legion 87 Tyler Romain has joined the club. Two years ago Romain was an affiliate with the club and did see some game action. Last year he played Junior “C” with Napanee. Lafleur stated, ‘the kids has produced everywhere he has played. He maybe small in stature but his competitiveness is terrific. We are losing some offence (from last year’s team) so it will be guys like Tyler that we hope will produce and replace those points.”

Lafleur adds with Romain being from Timmins and already having played in Kirkland Lake, those familiarities can only help.

Meantime Veteran defenceman Ethan Strong has officially committed to coming back and Lafleur could not be happier. “From start to finish he was one of our best players last year. He is an adult in terms of his maturity and he will be one of the guys that will lead the D-core.”
