GoldMiners Hire Ryan Wood as New Coach/GM

The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners are thrilled to announce Ryan Wood, as our new Head Coach & General Manager. Ryan, a Winnipeg, Manitoba native, joins the GoldMiners organization after a highly successful run in the GMHL where he compiled a career record including playoffs of 191-33-4.

Starting with the Bradford Bulls in 2013-14, the Tottenham Steam from 2014-2016 and last season with the New Tecumseth Civics , Ryan’s teams won 4 straight Division Championships along with 2 Russell Cup Championships, one with the Bulls and one with the Steam.

As Head Coach & General Manager in the Greater Metro Hockey League, Ryan has helped advance 15 players to the NCAA D3 level, 4 to the CIS, 11 to the European minor pro leagues and 6 to ACHA D1 programs.

Ryan a former referee, Hockey Canada Ref level 4 & USA Hockey level 3, officiated in the USHL, NAHL, SPHL, IHL & CHL from 2006-2012, including the Turner Cup finals (IHL).

Well connected through officiating, plus his work as Co-creator, Director & Head Coach, with Showcase Hockey Development, providing athletes exposure to junior and College coaches.

Ryan also served as Canadian Scout for the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the NAHL. Ryan has also been actively involved as a Coach/Instructor with World Hockey Center summer camps. Through these ventures, Ryan has the reputation of being an ace recruiter.

As Ryan gets settled, he will meet with assistants Jed Allick, Paul Lacroix, Doug Bolger & Bryan Bertoncello to round out his coaching staff.

The GoldMiners organization is thrilled and very much looking forward to working with Ryan, and we welcome his wife Catherine and 2 year-old son Easton to the GoldMiners Family.
