Hakon Nilsen Statement

In what can only be described as stranger than strange, Hakon Nilsen released a statement via the Flint Firebirds Twitter account stating;

“I am training with HC Kladno to prepare for next season with the Flint Firebirds.”

Yet, the Kladno release here says;

“The contract will be in Kladno, for example, Swedes Linus Svedlund and Johan Lorraine, American Hakon Nilsen and hard defenders David Štich. Including Jaromír Jágr, the head of the club, and Radka Gudase, CEZ’s stadium has over three dozen players.”

The specificity of the word “contract”, as stated by the club, and the official transaction as reported by Elite Prospects leaves more questions than answers concerning Hakon Nilsen.

Why would a player intending on playing in the OHL on in NHL sized arena’s be training on Olympic sized ice?

Maybe this is more about connecting the dots with relationships?  Kladno is Owned by Jaromir Jagr.  Jagr most recently played in Florida.  Flint Firebirds Owner Rolf Nilsen is based out of Florida, and Hakon Nilsen is from Florida.

This may be a simple mistake made by Kladno.  An oversight.  Jagr, considered to be the consummate professional by many, surely wouldn’t be making, or allowing these types of mistakes to be made by a club he owns.

In any event, the Nilsen family, by their handling of this, has once again shown they are not prepared to do business in hockey.
