Jr. Stars duo make college plans

The Dallas Jr. Stars of the NA3HL have announced that two more players have made college hockey commitments for the 2014-15 season.
Colin South, a forward, will attend and play for the University of Arkansas (ACHA D3), while Niko Jansen, also a forward, will attend and play for the University of Central Oklahoma (ACHA D1).
South, a Dallas native, appeared in 38 regular season games with the Stars and put up 15 goals, 13 assists and 28 points. In five playoff games he had 2 assists as the Stars made their way to the Silver Cup tournament in Chicago.
Although Colin was used heavily in shorthanded situations because of his speed, he was a physical force and put up 138 minutes in penalties in the regular season. He also was selected to play on Team South at the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament back in February.
Jansen, also a Dallas native, played Midget hockey for the Stars before being drafted by Cincinatti in the NA3HL last June. He was acquired by Dallas in late January.
Jansen appeared in 35 regular season games between Dallas and Cincinatti and finsihed with 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points and 44 minutes in penalties. A quick and crafty skater, Niko plays a gritty and grinding game in the corners and more often than not comes off the wall with the puck. Jansen is versatile and was used by the Stars on the point during powerplays.
