Junior Hockey is a journey. It is not just about destinations, but about how you travel to those destinations and the people you meet along the journey.
Kevin Miller traveled from New Jersey to Chicago this summer for the Pre Draft Combine in order to be scouted by NAHL teams attending. The Soo Eagles watched and took notice. From the Combine to the Central Wisconsin Saints in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League, where he leads the team in scoring.
Three months later, Miller gets the call from the Soo Eagles looking for a little spark in the scoring department and needing help due to injuries in the lineup.
Opportunity.
Opportunity usually comes through hard work and dedication. In this game, nothing is ever simply given, and everything should be earned.
That is what Tier III junior hockey is supposed to be all about. Create the opportunity for players to perform and move up to the next level when the time comes. Opportunity was met with performance by Miller, and when the call came, the Central Wisconsin Saints released him to move up without any compensation requested. This is what the Saints promised Miller, and they stayed true to their word.
Miller now has opportunity with the Soo Eagles. What happens next is completely up to him, and having watched him develop, Kevin Miller has a knack of taking advantage of opportunity.
