Lethbridge Hurricanes advance to Round Two of the 2025 WHL Playoffs

Virden, Man.- The Cane train is chugging along to Round Two of the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien.

With a 5-2 victory on Friday night, the fourth-seed Lethbridge Hurricanes defeated the fifth-seed Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Central Division squad won their prior matches 6-3, 4-3 and 3-1 before Brandon forced Game 5 with a 6-4 win in Virden, Man. on April 2.

Lethbridge powered past the Wheaties by peppering Ethan Eskit with a series-high 53 shots.

Winnipeg Jets prospect and 2024 WHL Champion Brayden Yager paced his new team with four goals and four assists for eight points in five games, while fellow 2024 Ed Chynoweth Cup winner Jackson Unger went 4-1-0-0 with a 2.82 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

Lethbridge will advance to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

The Hurricanes will face off against the Calgary Hitmen in their 2025 Eastern Conference Semifinal series.
