Max Jones – NTDP Commit Will Visit London Knights After Being Picked In OHL Draft

Its hard to ignore the talent the Honeybaked Midget Major Forward Max Jones brings to the table.  He has all the tools and all of the scouts are watching.

Jones was picked in the first round of the OHL draft today, number 18 over all by the London Knights.

The six-foot-two, 190-pounder is committed to the United States national team development program in Ann Arbor, Mich., but will be visiting London some time next week.

OHL sources are reporting that London fully expects to see Jones in a Knights jersey within the next year or two.  While Jones may be committed to the National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor now, Jones would not be the first player to take the OHL route over the USHL and NCAA route.

While Max may be influenced by his father Brad, a former University of Michigan standout, who played 148 NHL games with Winnipeg, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, it will be hard for Max to resist the call of the OHL.  The Knights also drafted Honeybaked team mate Ben Gleason in the second round.  This would certainly give Jones a greater comfort level if he were to choose London.

Jones is considered to be a future NHL player by most scouts, and many had him rated in the top five of all OHL prospects entering the draft.  The commitment to the NTDP is the only thing that allowed him to fall to the 18th spot according to one insider.

Max’s older brother Mitch plays in the OHL for the Plymouth Whalers, and one of his best friends is  Mississauga Steelheads defenseman Sean Day.  Most believe that the pull to the OHL will be too strong to resist and he will be in a London Knights jersey before too long.
