The Metro Jets have qualified for the USPHL Nationals for the seventh straight time, tying the record for consecutive qualifications in the current USPHL Premier with the Charlotte Rush and Florida Eels (2018-24). The Jets have now qualified every year from 2019 to 2025.
It was a back-and-forth track meet on Sunday afternoon in Mount Clemens as the Jets won 5-4. The Toledo Cherokee came back from being down 4-2 in the second period to even it up going into the third. Tim Monaghan scored the GWG in the third period. Alek John and Pierce Ashcroft each scored one goal and one assist, and Sutton Majeske had two assists. For Toledo, Anthony DiFlora scored a hat trick. In net, the Jets’ Rostislav Efremov stopped 37 of 41 shots and Toledo’s Caleb Kril stopped 35 of 40 shots.
In their first two games, the Jets fell on Friday to the Cherokee by a 2-1 score in overtime. They bounced back for a Game 2 win on Saturday with a 2-1 regulation win of their own.
