Mitchell commits to Seawolves for 2015

Surrey Eagles forward Mason Mitchell has accepted an offer and will play NCAA Div. I hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage for the Seawolves starting in 2015.

Mitchell committed to UAA earlier in the year when he was was a member of the Nanaimo Clippers.

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound native of Calgary notched nine goals and 10 assists last season with the Clips while supplying a physical presence to the lineup. He wound up fourth in the BCHL with 103 penalty minutes.

At UAA, Mitchell will join many other BCHL graduates. There were nine players – Cam Amantea, Olivier Mantha, Jarrett Brown, Matt Anholt, Anthony Conti, Austin Azurdia, Tanner Johnson, Christian Weidauer and Mitchell that committed to the program during the past season.

The Seawolves play in the NCAA’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association against the likes of Michigan Tech, Ferris State, Bowling Green and Minnesota State.

UAA featured four BCHL alums on their roster last season – Andrew Pettitt, Chris Williams, Chase Van Allen and Ben Matthews.
