TJHN reported weeks ago that both of the NAHL’s Alaska based teams will be starting their seasons in the lower 48 states. Namely in Minnesota.
Today the Brown Bears made it official by telling their fans that they hope to return when Alaska’s State COVID-19 guidelines allow for travel and fans as games.
While it is unclear yet where the Brown Bears will play, there are no shortage of arenas available in Minnesota. That said, Minnesota still also has restrictions on the number of fans allowed at games.
This temporary relocation really is more about travel restrictions in Alaska than it is about fans or gate receipts. No one is traveling in or out of Alaska any time soon without undergoing a two week quarantine.
More news on COVID-19 impacting the NAHL and NA3HL is expected soon as the schedules are due out in the next two weeks.
