NCDC 2023-24 Atlantic Division Players Of The Month: November 2023

Summaries By Joshua Boyd / NCDCHockey.com

Forward: Ty Broad, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

The Jr. Islanders continue to look largely unstoppable, going on a 14-game winning streak dating back to Oct. 7. They are helped along by the three-year NCDC veteran who has climbed this year to the top of the scoring leaderboard. Helped along by six goals and seven assists for 13 points in November, Broad now has a 12-25-37 line to lead all point-getters in the NCDC. He is just four points from bypassing an already impressive 41 points from 2022-23 when he helped the Jr. Isles to their first Dineen Cup Championship. He has no problem getting to the dirty areas, either, as his team-leading 10 hits illustrate. Broad is in the Top 10 all-time for essentially every category for P.A.L.

Forward: Carter Hanrahan, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

Another massively integral part of the 2023 Dineen Cup Championship team, Hanrahan picked up right where he left off last April. A seven-year USPHL veteran in his fourth NCDC season, Hanrahan (‘03/Longmeadow, Mass.) was huge on the playmaking side, putting up 11 assists in addition to one goal for a 12-point month over P.A.L.’s 8-0 November. He also coule be a spokesman for an ice company, given he blocked 12 shots in November to lead all Jr. Islander forwards. He has 28 points in 22 games and he currently has 74 points in 117 career games.

Forward: Henri Spoof, Mercer Chiefs

Spoof (‘03/Jyvaskala, Finland) is faring great in his first North American season, registering 18 points in 21 games for the Mercer Chiefs. Mercer’s 4-4 month helped the Chiefs jump to third place from sixth in the division. Spoof was there helping out every step of the way with four goals and eight assists for 12 points, good for 1.5 points per game. He ended the month on a 3-5-8 scoring streak in his last four games of November, including in an important sweep of the second place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. His +8 was also good for the team lead last month.

Defense: Coleson Hanrahan, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

Two years younger than brother and teammate Carter Hanrahan, Coleson Hanrahan was the league’s top-scoring defenseman in November when he put up a 2-11-13 line in the eight most recent P.A.L. wins (out of their team record 14-0 current winning streak). He put up five points in three games between Nov. 10-17 and ended the month with a career-best five assists in a win against Connecticut on Nov. 26. His 21:57 was tops among all Jr. Islanders in ice time, and his 35 shots on goal and 16 hits also led his team.

Defense: Jonah Copre, Rockets Hockey Club

Copre (‘03/Elgin, Ill.) is a four-year junior veteran in his second season with the Rockets. He was his usual great and steadying presence for the RHC. He put up a goal and 11 assists for 12 points in just seven games. No other Rocket was on the ice as much as Copre, who jumped out for 20:15 per game on average and he also averaged 6.1 takeaways per game. He finished the month on a 1-7-8 scoring streak in four games. His season to date totals show 21 points in 20 games and he has totaled 61 points in his 63 games.

Goaltender: Nicholas Bevilacqua, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

Bevilacqua (‘03/Abington, Mass.) has now won 13 games in a row including all seven of his November appearances. He turned away 277 of 286 shots for an amazing .969 save percentage. He was perfect in two games, stopping all 40 shots he faced from the WBS Knights on Nov. 17 and all 36 he faced from the Jersey Hitmen in the month’s first game on Nov. 3. He dominates the No. 1 spot in every major goaltending category – wins (16), save percentage (.955), goals against average (1.77) and shutouts (three).

Selection Process: The league media office sends top candidates to divisional coaches for review and coaches either approve or challenge the nominations.
