Forward: Shane Baker, Boston Junior Bruins
Baker (‘04/Grafton, Va.) had a huge three-game weekend as the Junior Bruins earned five points as a team – and Baker earned six points individually. He scored four goals and added two assists for six points, and that is all part of an 11-game scoring streak. He now has 46 points in 38 games this season and 110 points in 135 games. His 110 points are good for third all-time in Junior Bruins career scoring.
Defense: Svante Strandberg, Boston Junior Bruins
Strandberg (‘05/Uppsala, Sweden) came in after being signed out of the NAHL, and he’s been a real sparkplug for the Junior Bruins defense. He’s put up 11 points in 14 games since joining the team, including a goal and four assists for five points during the three-game series this past weekend against Twin City and Utica. He put up 28:30 of ice time per game and nine takeaways per game as well this past weekend. Strandberg was part of the USA Hockey Nationals Champion Shattuck St. Mary’s last year, as well.
Goaltender: Ludwig Svensson, Twin City Thunder
Svensson (‘04/Stockholm, Sweden) went out during the Thunder’s 4-3 shootout victory against the Junior Bruins and stopped 45 out of 48 shots in 65 minutes. He also stopped both of the Junior Bruins’ attempts for a .938 save percentage on the weekend. This helped give Svensson his second victory of the year.
Rookie*: Bryan Weissler, Boston Junior Bruins
Weissler (‘04/Floral Park, N.Y.) got the call-up from the USPHL Premier’s Junior Bruins – #USPHLAdvancement In Action – and really made the best of it. In three games, he registered a goal and three assists for four points, amid a Premier season that has him at 30 points in 34 games. He started in the USPHL just out of the Bantam level, starting with the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 16U team and working his way up through 18U before playing one year at the North Shore Academy before his junior career started this year.
