NCDC 2023-24 Players Of The Week: Mountain Division

Forward: Thomas Soucy, Pueblo Bulls

Soucy (‘03/Degelis, Que.) tied the season high for most points from a single player when he put up a 1-4-5 line against Utah on Saturday. A day earlier, he also had a 1-1-2 line to give himself a total of 2-5-7 over the two games. That pulled his points per game even at one per with 15 points in 15 games this year.

Defense: Matteo Mitrovic, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Mitrovic (‘03/Graz, Austria) is another player who excelled for his USPHL Premier team that became an NCDC team this year, in Idaho Falls. Both Mitrovic and Thomas Soucy were USPHL Premier Mountain Division All-Stars last year and have transitioned beautifully to the Tier II game. In the Spud Kings’ wins against Ogden and Provo, he put up a goal and two assists, blocked seven shots and registered 26 defensive takeaways to be a true leader for the winning Spud Kings.

Goaltender: Prestyn Carter, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Carter was extremely busy in two games, being forced to stop 85 of 92 shots from Ogden and Provo, the Mountain Division’s top two teams. He went 2-0 against both and registered a .924 save percentage, one of the best marks for a Mountain goaltender last week.

Rookie*: Parker Osborn, Ogden Mustangs

Osborn (‘05/Mound, Minn.) registered a pair of goals, including a shorthanded goal, in the Mustangs’ win against the Rock Springs Grizzlies on Nov. 3. He put up a goal and an assist the next day in the Mustangs’ close 5-4 loss to Idaho Falls, giving him a 2-2-4 line in two games. He has 17 points through 12 games in his first Tier II season out of Holy Family Catholic High School in his home state of Minnesota.

* = no more than 10 Tier II games prior to 2023-24 / ’04 or younger
