Week of Oct. 18, 2023
Games of Oct. 10-16, 2023
Forward: Max Lundgren, Islanders Hockey Club
Lundgren (‘03/Umea, Sweden) scored three goals over the Islanders’ last two games to help him to the NCDC’s best goal-scoring streak, with eight goals through six games. One of his three goals was the OT GWG against the Thunder on Oct. 12. He also added three assists for six points as the Islanders swept the Twin City Thunder in a home-and-home series.
Defense: Jason Zaccari, South Shore Kings
No one in the NCDC scored more points between Oct 10-16 than the ‘05 blueliner from Santa Ana, Calif., the former Tabor Academy Captain Zaccari. The registered seven assists over three games as the Kings went 2-1 against the Utica Jr. Comets. He posted four assists in the Kings’ 9-4 win to close the weekend and also had helpers in each of the first two games. He went +3 and registered 33 takeaways and five blocked shots.
Goaltender: Frank Murphy, Islanders Hockey Club
Taking his third weekly honor, the ‘04 from Toronto stopped all 42 shots he faced against the Twin City Thunder for his first career NCDC shutout. He is the shining example of #USPHLAdvancement In Action, having been a #USPHLPremier All-Star last year with the Toledo Cherokee. He stands at 5-0-1-0 with a .945 save percentage early in his NCDC career.
Rookie*: Samuel Larsson, Islanders Hockey Club
The first place Islanders have had several great performances already, so it’s no surprise to see so many weekly honors for the 8-0-2-0 squad. The defenseman Larsson (‘04/Stockholm, Sweden) posted a goal and three assists during the two-game series with the Twin City Thunder, including on Lundgren’s OT game-winner on Oct. 12. He also scored a goal in the Oct. 14 shutout against Twin City.
* = no more than 10 Tier II games prior to 2023-24 / ’04 or younger
