A two-year veteran of the Connecticut Jr. Rangers, forward Alexander Ondos was fortunate enough to have great success. With the help of his teammates and coaches, he earned an NCAA Division III commitment to Suffolk University for the 2025-26 season.
Ondos, a native of Baden, Pa., signed with the CT Jr. Rangers for the 2023-24 season playing in 48 games and tallying 24 total points (11 goals, 13 assists). After a great first season with the squad, it was a no-brainer for him to return to the Rangers this season. In 43 games so far, Ondos has put up 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) and has been a staple offensive weapon. He was also named to the Atlantic Division All-Stars team last month.
“I really appreciate all of the support that I have received from the Connecticut Jr. Rangers organization over the last two years,” said Ondos.
Suffolk has been on Ondos’ radar ever since Head Coach Shawn McEachern took over as head coach. McEachern has been someone Ondos has looked up to and now he gets the opportunity to play for him, which he is very thankful for.
“I’ve been following Suffolk hockey since Coach McEachern took over as head coach, knowing him from growing up in Pittsburgh and his success on the 1992 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins team,” said Ondos. “After meeting Coach McEachern, the current players, and seeing the growing momentum for Suffolk hockey, it was an obvious fit for me and I am grateful for this upcoming opportunity.”
Ondos will be attending Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School’s honors program, most likely in their new sports management program. Ondos is thrilled to be attending a school right in the city of Boston and knows it will be an excellent choice for him for the next four years.
“Suffolk’s campus-like atmosphere in the heart of Boston made me feel comfortable and excited to experience all the city and university have to offer,” said Ondos.
Though a playoff appearance is not likely for the Jr. Rangers, Ondos is hoping to finish out his juniors career strong.
The NCDC congratulates Alexander Ondos, his family, the Connecticut Jr. Rangers and Suffolk
University for his commitment.
