NCDC Commitments: Rangers’ Flaacke Commits To Hiram College

By Alexis Demopoulos

The Boston Jr. Rangers organization has meant a lot to forward Harrison Flaacke and he is grateful to have spent two seasons with them. The Jr Rangers, along with a lot of hard work and determination earned him an NCAA Division III commitment to Hiram College for the 2025-26 season.

The Tampa, FL native spent last season with the Jr. Rangers in the EHLP and had 33 points in 39 games and it was a no-brainer for him to re-sign this season, especially with the move to the NCDC. In 25 games played this season, Flaacke has six points and has enjoyed every minute of playing for the Jr. Rangers.

“The Boston Junior Rangers have allowed me to develop my game and have begun to prepare me for college play,” said Flaacke. “The Rangers have formed a great culture of players striving to play at the next level. I decided to return to the Rangers because the previous season I saw firsthand players getting opportunities to play at the collegiate level as well as the championship culture that they have formed over the years. I wanted us to find success as a team and on a personal level while wearing the Ranger logo.”

Flaacke got in touch with head coach Dr. Jeffrey Curto about one month before he officially committed. The Terriers will be new to the NCAA for the 2025-26 season and Flaacke is excited to be a part of a brand new culture.

“Coach Curto spoke highly of my 200-foot game as he called it,” said Flaacke. “This is where I excel with my physicality, speed, and willingness to block shots. My style of game sounds like it will fit the style and system they are planning on utilizing at Hiram College during their inaugural season. With the Terriers program being new to the NCAA for the 2025-2026 season this will provide an excellent opportunity to create a competitive culture and to be a part of something special.”

On the academics side, Hiram has a great integrative exercise science program which is what Flaacke is interested in pursuing. He was blown away by the campus, the friendliness of everyone he encountered and he simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a Terrier.

“The second I arrived at Hiram College I was greeted right away with open arms from students and professors,” said Flaacke. “The faculty went out of their way to set up a full day of touring the campus, speaking with the professors of the majors I was potentially interested in, and seeing the incredible athletic facility. The campus and staff had a very family-like feel and there are plenty of resources available to help me find success athletically and academically. I am very grateful for all the efforts that went into my time on campus and this amazing opportunity to become a Terrier.”

For the remainder of the season, Flaacke is working towards being more of an offensive threat and being a lock down winger in the defensive zone. He is hoping to finish out these last few weeks strong.

“With only a few weeks left in the season I am looking to end the season on a high note as a team by coming ready to compete and battle every day,” said Flaacke. “I’m looking to embrace every opportunity I get to wear the red and blue for my final games of my junior hockey career. I would like to thank Coach Rich Decaprio, Danni Ferri, and Nick Grinvalds for all they have done for me leading up to this point as my commitment wouldn’t have been possible without their help on and off the ice.”

The NCDC congratulates Harrison Flaacke, his family, the Boston Jr. Rangers and Hiram College for his commitment.
