NCDC Die-Hards: Ogden Mustangs’ Ethan Hall

By Joshua Boyd / NCDCHockey.com

The Ogden Mustangs are headed back to the hockey season full of confidence and with a noticeable chip on their shoulder. The Mustangs had a fantastic first season in the NCDC in 2023-24, winning the Mountain Division playoff championship and earning the division’s first win against an Eastern U.S. NCDC team in the Dineen Cup Finals. But they left Massachusetts without the Dineen Cup itself, and Ethan Hall is one of many Mustangs back to make good on that unfinished business.

“I decided to re-sign with Ogden because of the great run we made last year, the special group we had, and many of us wanting to come back for a redemption year,” said Hall, a 2005-born defenseman from Carver, Minn. “I thought the Dineen Cup was a great competition and showed that the West can compete with the East at a high level of play.”

Hall came to the Mustangs after being a Captain for the Holy Family Catholic squad in his home state, where he was a teammate of Mustangs high scorer Parker Osborn before they both joined forces in Ogden. With the Mustangs, he put up 22 points in 45 games, and he also had two assists in 10 playoff games. His +21 was fourth on the team and second among blueliners, and his 82 hits were second overall and among blueliners for the Mustangs.

“I thought I had a great season. My first year of juniors was a lot of fun getting to know all the guys, getting to go deep in playoffs and almost winning a championship in the first year,” Hall added. “I developed a great offensive game and helped create offensive chances as a defenseman. I am trying to sharpen up my defensive zone play for this upcoming season.”

He is happy that he picked the Mustangs and the NCDC to continue in his mission to earn a college commitment.

“The competition in the NCDC is high. There are a lot of fast, skilled guys and a lot of guys get opportunities to get to play at the next level in this league,” added Hall. “I think Ogden is a great place to play. It’s a beautiful city with a lot of great things to do outdoors. We also have a really special fan base that helps make the games exciting and gives us support throughout the year.”

It all begins for the Mustangs on September 20, when they’ll open the 2024-25 season at the home Weber County Ice Sheet against the visiting Idaho Falls Spud Kings.

The NCDC wishes Ethan Hall and the Ogden Mustangs the best of luck in the upcoming season.
