NCDC Players Of The Week: Mountain Division

Games of Sept. 23-29, 2024

Forward: Andrew Schmidt, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Schmidt (‘05/Chicago, Ill.) is in his second season in Idaho Falls, and he put together a fantastic three goals and two assists during the Spud Kings’ weekend sweep of the Rock Springs Grizzlies, helping them to start 4-0 on the season. After scoring a goal on Friday, he put up a 2-2-4 line in front of the home crowd Saturday night, including the GWG.

Defense: Lucas Karlsson, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Karlsson (‘05/Kolping, Sweden) must have enjoyed being Defenseman of the Week so much last week, he went out and earned it again! He put up a goal and two assists for three points in the Spud Kings’ sweep of Rock Springs. That gives the second-year Spud King five points through four games.

Goaltender: Dilans Birkans, Ogden Mustangs

Birkans (‘06/Jirmala, Latvia) stopped all 20 shots he faced to claim a shutout victory in his very first North American game on Friday night in a 3-0 win against the rival Utah Outliers.

Rookie: Bookie Warshaw, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Warshaw (‘05/Gilbert, Ariz.) scored a goal and added three assists for four points in his first two junior games. Warshaw joined the Spud Kings out of Northstar Christian Academy.
