Games of Oct. 15-21, 2024
Forward: Carson Castro, Utah Outliers
Castro (‘06/Orange, Calif.) put up a goal and added two assists as the Outliers, helping the Outliers remain undefeated in regulation over their last four games. Castro, a former Anaheim Jr. Ducks AAA player, has four points in five games to start his NCDC career.
Defense: Filip Lezzani, Utah Outliers
Lezzani (‘04/Puchov, Slovakia) is a great example of USPHL Advancement In Action, having been a 2023-24 USPHL Premier Northwest Division All-Star last year with the Vernal Oilers. He was a two-year Oiler and was tendered by Utah. This past weekend, he registered the GWG in their 4-0 win over the Rock Springs Grizzlies.
Goaltender: Marcus Ouellet, Utah Outliers
Ouellet (‘04/Toronto, Ont.) made 27 saves in a shutout victory against the Rock Springs Grizzlies, and then also made 31 saves on 32 shots in a win against Casper. The American International College commit is currently 4-0-0-2 on the season with a .945 save percentage, which ranks in the top 10 league-wide.
Rookie: Hunter Bauer, Ogden Mustangs
Bauer (‘06/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) continues his hot streak, putting up his league-leading third shutout – and his third in four games – on Oct. 18, stopping all 18 shots he faced from the Casper Warbirds. He is 4-1-0-0, and on a four-game winning streak. His .966 save percentage ranks third league-wide.
Selection Process: Team coaches first nominate players, the League sends back finalists, and coaches are then able to further vote on finalists or nominate other players.
