Week of Oct. 12, 2022
North Division
Forward: Trace Norwell, Twin City Thunder
The Thunder enjoyed a 2-1 weekend at the Jersey Hitmen Classic, coming up with victories against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights and Rockets Hockey Club. The veteran Norwell (‘02/Erie, Colo.) was on fire all weekend, putting up four goals – including at least one goal in each of the three games – and also adding three assists. He had three-point performances against each of the Knights and Rockets.
Defense: Conor Lally, Boston Advantage
Another veteran, Lally (‘02/Scarborough, Maine) was instrumental in the Advantage’s two wins. He scored the shootout winner on Friday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, and then put up the Advantage’s second goal against the Hitmen in their eventual 3-2 victory to close the showcase. He also blocked seven shots on the weekend to help his team go 2-1-0-0. Along with his prior NCDC experience last year with Boston, he is also an alum of the USPHL 16U Division.
Goaltender: Chris Jackson, Twin City Thunder
Jackson (‘02/Charles Town, W.V.) is new to the Thunder but comes in as a third-year junior veteran. After stopping 18 of 19 against the WBS Knights in his first start at the Hitmen Classic, he got a chance to avenge a loss a week earlier to the Rockets by stopping 32 of 33 for a second W. All told, he stopped 50 of 52 and went 2-0, improving overall to 3-1-0-0 thus far.
South Division
Forward: Vincent Gould, Jersey Hitmen
The veteran Gould (‘03/Wellesley, Mass.) put up a goal in each of his three Hitmen Classic games, including the game-winner in their second contest against the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs. Along with goals in four straight games, Gould has averaged a point per game early on this season with a 7-2-9 line in nine games so far.
Defense: Jack Barbro, Rockets Hockey Club
Barbro (‘02/Loudonville, N.Y.) put up a pair of goals, including the game-winner against the Islanders Hockey Club, and he added an assist for a three-point weekend at the Hitmen Classic. A second-year veteran of the NCDC and an alum of the USPHL 16U Division (two years with the CP Dynamo), he has four points through his first seven games this year.
Goaltender: J.J. Cataldo, Jersey Hitmen
Another great weekend for Cataldo, among the best goalies anywhere in North America. He posted a 27-save shutout against the Boston Junior Bruins and a 25-save defeat of the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs, in which he gave up just one goal, stopping 51 of 52 shots all weekend.
