Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 4, Jersey Hitmen 0

The Knights’ Max Varner (’05/Buffalo, Minn.) was the star of the show making 41 saves on 41 shots to shut down a strong Jersey Hitmen offense. Rocco Luciano (’07/Chicago, Ill.) scored the first and game-winning goal, which was also his first in the NCDC. Connor Lawrence (’06/Selingsgrove, Pa.) earned two assists.

 

Utica Jr. Comets 2, Thunder Hockey Club 0

Michael Valenta (’05/Sumperk, Czechia) made 38 saves to capture the win for the Jr. Comets on Saturday. Daniel Urban (’04/Orchard Park, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game and that stood as the GWG, his third of the season.

 

Mercer Chiefs 2, West Chester Wolves 1

The Chiefs’ Justin Thibault (’08/Levis, Que.) scored the GWG and Casey Johnson (’05/Sewell, N.J.) posted two assists to help the Chiefs defeat West Chester, 2-1. Cole Werthman made 31 saves on 32 shots for the win in net.

 

Pueblo Bulls 3, Rock Springs Grizzlies 0 

The Bulls’ Noel Friedman (’05/Denver, Colo.) registered his first shutout by making 21 saves on 21 shots, and Quinn Smith (’06/Madison, Wis.) scored the GWG in a big Bulls victory.

 

Casper Warbirds 3, Ogden Mustangs 1

The Warbirds won 3-1 to extend their winning streak to three games in a row. Jake Lundeen (’05/Belfair, Wash.) scored the GWG on a highlight reel shorthanded backhand goal, and in net, Nikolas Charles (’04/San Jose, Calif.) stopped 44 of 45 shots for the win.
