Islanders Hockey Club 6, Seacoast Spartans 2

The Islanders won two in a row to try and get some space in third place above fourth place as the playoff position jostling begins down the second half. Lorenzo Rossi (’05/Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) won his IHC debut with 27 saveson 29 shots. Braxton Powers (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) continues his outstanding season with a 1-3-4 line, while fellow NCDC All-Star selections Joseph Samango (’05/Havertown, Pa.) put up three assists and Cameron Stehle (’06/Raleigh, N.C.) had a 2-2-4 line. Christian Day (’04/Barre, Vt.) had two assists, and Andrey Bondarev (’04/Stockholm, Sweden) put up a goal and an assist.

 

South Shore Kings 10, Worcester Railers JHC 1

It was an explosive offensive showing for a team that is undefeated in regulation through 28 games (26-0-2-0). Rookie Ethan Woolcott (’05/Irvine, Calif.) scored a hat trick and added one assist, while Will Rassier (’04/Princeton, N.J.) and Jake Kavanagh (’05/Montreal, Que.) each scored twice.  Joseph Dable (’04/Wellesley, Mass.) scored a goal and three assists for four points. Tyler Maxner (’04/Bayfield, Ont.), Jack DesRuisseaux (’04/Manchester, N.H.) and Gregor Jennersjo (’04/Ekero, Sweden) each had two helpers. Jacob Owens (’05/Chittenango, N.Y.) scored a goal and an assist.

 

Northern Cyclones 5, Boston Jr. Rangers 2 

The Cyclones are on a 3-0-1-0 point streak after defeating the Boston Jr. Rangers, 5-2. NCDC All-Star selection Ian Duffy (’04/Chester Springs, Pa.) scored a goal and two assists, as did Keenan Schneider (’04/Villanova, Pa.)  Lukas Eich (’05/Czechia) scored a goal and an assist, and in net, Logan Abric (’04/Hayward, Wis.) got the win in net with 44 saves on 46 shots.

 

Connecticut Jr. Rangers 4, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 3 (SO) 

Emmett Auch (’07/Wall, N.J.) scored the shootout game-winner to lift the Jr. Rangers to a 4-3 victory against the Knights. Justin Filipelli (’04/New York, N.Y.) scored two goals during regulation and Jakub Kral (’04/Czechia) made 29 saves on 32 shots.

 

Jersey HItmen 5, Rockets Hockey Club 4 (OT)

Breyden Zupsansky (’04/Brecksville, Ohio) had a huge afternoon with four goals including the OT winner for the Hitmen, who are undefeated in regulation in seven games (6-0-1-0). He joined fellow NCDC All-Star selection Lucas Di Chiara (’04/Fairfield, Conn.) in scoring the goals for the Hitmen, as he had a goal and an assist. Ty Oller (’05/Wayne, N.J.) earned three assists, while in net, Nick Bunch (’05/Canton, Mich.) put up three assists.

 

P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 4, Mercer Chiefs 1

NCDC All-Star selection Ryan Kearney (’04/Kings Park, N.Y.) scored twice, while Ryan Franks (’05/Roslyn, N.Y.), Carson Nickulas (’04/Barnstable, Mass.) and Hayden Vonk (’05/Grand Rapids, Mich.) each had two assists. Lukas Vejmelka (’04/Trebic, Czechia) stopped 41 of 42 shots for the victory.

 

Utica Jr. Comets 2, Thunder Hockey Club 1

The Jr. Comets have earned points in nine straight games at 7-0-1-1. Xavier Goodwin (’05/Alpharetta, Ga.) scored the game-winning goal and All-Star selection Ricky Volpe (’04/Commack, N.Y.) put up two assists. Goaltender Dylan Eliason (’04/Northville, Mich.) registered 27 saves on 28 shots. Michael Calabret. (’05/Hudson, Ohio) made a strong 45 saves on 47 shots despite the loss.

 

Idaho Falls Spud Kings 5, Pueblo Bulls 2

NCDC All-Star selection D.J. MacLeish (’05/Troy, Mich.) registered two goals, while both Ryan Roethke (’04/Buffalo, Minn.) and Timothy Kim (’04/Vancouver, B.C.) each had three point nights iwth lines of 1-2-3 and 0-3-3 respectively. All-Star Easton Edwards (’05/Anchorage, Alaska) put up a goal and an assist, and Bookie Warshaw (’05/Gilbert, Ariz.) had two assists. In net, All-Star Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) stopped 25 of 27 shots.

 

Ogden Mustangs 7, Rock Springs Grizzlies 4

The Mustangs stand in first in the Mountain Division with a six-game winning streak. All-Star Jiri Duda (’04/Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Tom Jacques (’04/Louisville, Ky.) put up two goals apiece, with Jacques adding an assist. Notre Dame recruit and All-Star Jackson Walsh (’05/Northville, Mich.) scored a goal and two assists, and Owen Hendrikson (’04/Rosemount, Minn.) put up three assists. Tommy Fetterman (’05/Downington, Pa.) had a goal and an assist, and Caleb Bendell (’05/Chanhassen, Pa.) put up two assists. In net, All-Star Dilans Birkans (’06/Ilskile, Latvia) made 35 saves on 39 shots.

 

Casper Warbirds 6, Utah Outliers 1

The Warbirds captured a big win against the Outliers, with All-Star Xavier Brooks (’04/Scarborough, Ont.) scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist. Reece Allman (’05/Chicago, Ill.) also had an assist, while Joseph Zizka (’05/Omaha, Neb.) scored a goal and two assists. Nicolas Rempel (’06/Winnipeg, Man.) won his Warbirds debut with 41 saves on 42 shots.
