Worcester Railers JHC 4, Boston Jr. Rangers 2
Jake Lindstrom, an ’04 forward from Colorado, scored the eventual GWG to make the Worcester Railers the first team to win two games this year. Lindstrom also had an assist. Jackson Ammons (’05/Raleigh, N.C.) also had a goal and an assist for Worcester. Chad Lowe (’05/Skaneateles, N.Y.) was impressive with 33 saves on 35 shots in net for Worcester. The Rangers trio of Colin Kwak (’04/Alpharetta, Ga.), Tyler Dale (’04/Pewaukee, Wis.) and Mathieu Fournier (’04/Quebec City, Que.) each had a goal and an assist for the Rangers.
South Shore Kings 5, Seacoast Spartans 2
NCDC veteran Will Rassier (’04/Princeton, N.J.) scored two goals and added two assists in the Kings’ first victory of their Dineen Cup championship defense campaign. Hunter Bruce (’05/Dartmouth, N.S.) posted a 1-1-2 line and Kamil Rohal (’05/Humenne, Slovakia) had two assists for the winners. Lukas Fursten (’05/Ilava, Slovakia) earned his first win with 29 saves on 31 shots.
Thunder Hockey Club 4, Islanders Hockey Club 2
Itri (’06/Sandwich, Mass.) had a goal and an assist and Michael Calabret (’05/Hudson, Ohio) made 29 saves in net for the Thunder’s second victory in two games. Islanders Hockey Club veteran Braxton Powers (’04/Raleigh, N.C.), playing in his 100th NCDC game, scored a goal and an assist. Samuel Larsson (’04/Stockholm, Sweden) had two assists.
Northern Cyclones 5, Utica Jr. Comets 2
NCDC veteran Ian Duffy (’04/Chester Springs, Pa.) registered the game-winning goal and an assist, and returning Cyclone Logan Abric (’04/Hayward, Wis.) stopped 29 of 31 shots for the victory in net for the Cyclones season and home-opener.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 4, Rockets Hockey Club 3
The Knights held off a furious three-goal comeback attempt by the Rockets to hold on for their first win of the season. The Knights got a goal and an assist apiece from Richard Komendat (’06/Kosice, Slovakia), Christian Day (’04/Barre, Vt.) and Teito Ishigaki (’05/Tokyo, Japan). each scored one goal and one assist. Emmanuel Pepin (’06/St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.) made 33 saves in the win.
For the Rockets, Jakub Kristek (’07/Mlada Boleslav, Czechia) posted two assists in the third period comeback attempt.
Jersey Hitmen 6, Mercer Chiefs 1
The Hitmen got goals from six different goal-scorers to open their 2024-25 season with a win. Earning a goal and an assist apiece were Bryan Tang (’04/Hong Kong), Ryan Shea (’06/Norwell, Mass.), Aiden Ryan (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) and Areseniy Zharikov (’05/Moscow, Russia). Additionally, Breyden Zupsansky (’04/Cleveland, Ohio) and Hitmen youth and midget product Ty Oller (’05/Wayne, N.J.) In net, Nick Bunch (’05/Canton, Mich.) stopped 30 saves for the victory.
West Chester Wolves 4, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 1
The Wolves won their first-ever NCDC game on Friday, 4-1, against the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders. Anton Berg (’04/Malmo, Sweden) scored the first Wolves NCDC goal, and Seiya Ishida (’04/Tomokamai, Japan) scored twice. Helping with multiple assists were Harrison Kinne (’05/Swampscott, Mass.), Owen Norman (’04/Oro-Medonte, Ont.) and Joshua Swan (’04/Chateauguay, Que.) Earning the first West Chester Wolves’ first victory in net was NCDC veteran Griffin Davis (’05/Nashua, N.H.)
Utah Outliers 5, Rock Springs Grizzlies 2
Returning Outlier Garrett Joss (’04/Whitby, Ont.) scored two goals in his 2024-25 season debut to help the host team to a victory. Fellow veteran Outlier Michael Schwartz (’04/North Hollywood, Calif.) had two assists. NCDC Entry Draft Phase I pick Thomas Duhamel (’07/Drummondville, Que.) scored one goal and one assist.
Fourth-year junior veteran and American International College commit Marcus Ouellet (’04/Toronto, Ont.) made 19 saves for his first NCDC victory.
Idaho Falls Spud Kings 4, Ogden Mustangs 3
Down 3-0 with 5:42 remaining in regulation, the Spud Kings mounted a massive comeback to eventually win 4-2. Andrew Schmidt (’05/Chicago, Ill.) scored the game-winner with 52 seconds remaining in regulation. Will O’Donovan (’06/Cambridge, Minn.) got the comeback started with two straight goals and he also added one assist in his junior hockey debut. Lucas Karlsson (’05/Koping, Sweden) registered two assists in the comeback, and Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) made 25 saves in net.
Veteran Mustang Brody Simko (’04/Butler, Pa.) scored the first two goals of his team’s season for Ogden.
