NOJHL Soo Thunderbirds Fire Head Coach

Some players like to change their gloves in between periods, some teams like to change power plays and penalty kill systems.  The Soo Thunderbirds are in a habit of changing Head Coaches.

The team made the following statement on their website today:

Warren Lavoy has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Soo Thunderbirds, the club announced earlier today. The organization would like to thanks Warren for the significant contribution he has made.

Thunderbirds general manager Kevin Cain is taking over the coaching duties for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, assistant coach Dennis Bolton, strength and conditioning coach Michael Barbeau, and goalie coaches Billy Thompson and Miles Williams will remain in their respective roles.

Many will remember the reasons for firing last years Thunderbirds coaching staff.  Without rehashing those reasons, one has to question why a team that is in first place in the NOJHL would fire its head coach?

Having won seven of their last ten games, with only eight games remaining in the season, one has to wonder what is going on with the organization.

If not for the security of General Manager Kevin Cain and his coaching ability, the Tbirds would struggle to find capable hands to guide the team the rest of the way.
