Rock rookie Cunningham pots winner vs. Beavers

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Timmins Rock rookie forward Bain Cunningham collected his sixth game-winning goal of the season Sunday helping his side skate past the Blind River Beavers 5-1 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Blind River Community Centre.

Blind River did get off a good start notching the match-up’s opening marker just 60 seconds in as Ted Davis collected his 10th tally of the campaign.

Timmins countered with the equalizer a couple of shifts later on a Devin Panzeca effort that saw him score for a 16th time for the Rock.

Cunningham then notched the eventual difference maker 8:21 into the session, which tied him with Cochrane’s Dustin Cordeiro for most game-winners in the league with the half dozen.

The Rock added to their lead in the middle frame getting an even strength effort from Wayne Mathieu and one on the power play thanks to Jordan Rendle to put the visitors up by three through 40 minutes.

Timmins then wrapped up the win as Jared Hester supplied a man advantage effort with 11:11 left to wrap-up the scoring.

Ryan Kerr and Joe Olson dished out two assists each in the triumph for the Rock.

Logan Ferrington made 30 saves to record the win for Timmins while Matt Blattenberger saw 39 shots fired his way in defeat for Blind River.
