Saturday Highlights: Attack and 67’s keep hopes alive heading into final day of regular season

Saginaw Spirit 3 at Flint Firebirds 6

  • Five unanswered goals across the second and third period won this one for the Firebirds, with Christopher Thibodeau netting the game-winner.
  • NHL Draft eligible Michael Misa opened the scoring for the Spirit with his 61st goal, but Sam McCue tied things back up for the Firebirds shortly after.
  • A second period goal by Brody Najim gave Saginaw back the lead, but this lead was short lived.
  • McCue netted two power play goals for the Firebirds.
  • Saginaw leads the I-75 Divide Cup season series 8-6 in points heading into Sunday’s season finale between the two clubs.

Ottawa 67’s 7 at Erie Otters 1

  • The 67’s put on an offensive masterclass in this one, scoring seven goals, from 6 different goal scorers,
  • Cooper Foster netted two goals and two assists, including what stood as the game winning goal in the first period.
  • Sam Alfano got the Otters on the board in the third period, but this was all the Otters could generate.
  • This win stands as 67’s Head Coach Dave Cameron’s 500th career OHL win.

Guelph Storm 2 at Owen Sound Attack 4

  • Attack captain Landen Hookey buried the game-winner for his team in the third period, followed my an empty netter from Bruce MacDonald to solidify the win.
  • After an early snipe by Cole Zurawski to open things up for the Attack, the Storm answered right back with a power play goal by Max Namestnikov.
  • Masen Wray had a goal and an assist in the win, as well as earning the #BestofOHL clip of the night.
  • Carter George was phenomenal as usual, turning away 26/28 and earning third star honours.

Niagara IceDogs 1 at Barrie Colts 8

  • The Colts took this one in dominant fashion, scoring eight unanswered, including Oven Van Steensel’s game-winner.
  • Ethan Czata opened the scoring for the IceDogs in the first period, but this proved to be their only goal of the night.
  • Anthony Romani had a big performance, scoring two goals and two primary assists for the Colts.
  • Tristan Bertucci and Brad Gardiner also celebrated multi-goal nights.
