Schedule for NOJHL final announced

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Sunday its schedule for the NOJHL championship series between the Soo Thunderbirds and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, who will vie for the Copeland Cup – McNamara trophy.

This best-of-seven affair will open up Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. with games 1 and 2 at Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.

The series will then shift to the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex in Kirkland Lake for games 3 and 4 on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18 in another pair of 7:30 p.m. starts.

If required, game 5 will be held on Sunday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. back in the Sault.

Game 6, if necessary, is slated for Tuesday, April 22 in Kirkland Lake and would feature a 7:30 p.m. face-off at The Joe.

Should the series go the distance, a seventh and deciding would go Thursday, April 24 in Sault Ste. Marie at 7:30 p.m.

The NOJHL champion will then advance to represent the league at Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. A championship April 29 through May 3 in Wellington, Ont.
