IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners got two goals apiece from Kameron Shearer and Brayden Stortz to help lead them to a 7-2 triumph over the Iroquois Falls Eskis Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Jus Jordan Arena.
Iroquois Falls got on the board first in this one as Jacob Erwin collected his 15th tally of the season at 3:52.
Kirkland Lake countered by striking three times before the opening frame was complete with Stortz tying it at 5:31 before Shearer scored twice, including the eventual game-winner.
A tight-checking checking middle session saw the Eskis net the lone goal of the stanza late as David Osborne supplied his team-best 18th overall with 62 seconds left.
The Gold Miners erased any doubt of a comeback in the third as they tacked on four markers of their own to complete the victory.
Alex Hester’s first NOJHL goal, coming via the power play, midway through the session, Dylan Holt at 11:29, Stortz six minutes later and Dalton Anderson with less than two minutes to go capped off the win for Kirkland Lake.
Blake Anderson had three assists for the Gold Miners with Dalton Anderson adding two of own as did Adam Desgagnes and Brett Ouderkirk.
Stuart Harley supplied two helpers for Iroquois Falls.
Victor-Olivier Courchesne started for Kirkland Lake handing23 of 25 in two periods of work with Tyler Mazzocatio stopping all 12 attempts he saw in a third period relief stint.
Joe Sheppard started for the Eskis and played half the game in suffering the loss allowing three against of 24 shots.
Josh Horner finished off the rest of the way and stopped 24 of 28.
