Smokies forward Basilico earns scholarship to Lake Superior State

The Trail Smoke Eaters are pleased to announce the commitment of forward Bryan Basilico to the Lake Superior State (LSSU) Lakers NCAA Division I program for the 2015/16 season.

Hailing from Macomb, Michigan, Basilico is a 19-year-old 6-foot-3, 200-pound forward. Before suiting up for Trail last season, he spent three years in the USHL playing with the Sioux Falls Stampede, Des Moines Buccaneers and the Green Bay Gamblers.  Basilico joined the Smoke Eaters last season and in 48 games scored 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points.

Basilico becomes the fourth player on the Trail roster for the coming season to earn an NCAA scholarship. He is also the fifth BCHL player to commit to LSSU in the last year.

The Smoke Eaters and head coach Nick Deschenes are counting on Basilico’s leadership qualities to lead the Smoke Eaters into a playoff spot this season.
