SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Jack Deines turned aside all 29 shots he faced to record his first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout Saturday, a 5-0 triumph over the Iroquois Falls Eskis at Pullar Stadium.
Jacob Palmerio picked up the only goal the Eagles would need on this night in the opening period.
Sault Ste. Marie added to their cushion with another marker in the middle session that was scored by Landon Hubbard seven minutes in.
The Eagles then put the game way in the third as they tacked on a trio of tallies to secure the victory.
After Zack Parrott picked up his first NOJHL goal on an early power play effort, the Eagles then iced it with a pair of late efforts from Reed Gregory and Gord Helmuth in the final minute to conclude the night’s scoring to the delight of the over 500 spectators at Pullar Stadium.
Evan Ketner was a two-assist man for the Soo in the win.
While Deines stopped all 29 attempts he faced to register the shutout, Matthew Camillieri saw 42 pucks fired his way in defeat for Iroquois Falls.
