Sunday Highlights: Colts and Frontenacs win overtime thrillers

The Barrie Colts and Kingston Frontenacs came out on top on Sunday as they extracted wins in thrilling overtime contests

 

Brampton Steelheads 6 at Niagara IceDogs 2

  • Seattle Kraken prospect Carson Rehkopf capped off a three goal first period for the Steelheads with the game winning goal and his 41st of the season
  • 2026 NHL Draft prospect Ryan Roobroeck scored the first goal of the game for Niagara as he pots his 40th of the season
  • Anaheim Ducks prospect Konnor Smith had a four point performance on the blue line with a goal and three assists for the Steelheads
  • Aidan Lane scored his sixth goal of the season and his third goal in the last three games for the Steelheads
  • Blair Scott scored the only other goal for the IceDogs as they dropped this one 6-2
  • Gabriel Chiarot, Lucas Karmiris, and Kieran Witkowski also marked goals in the game for Brampton

Barrie Colts 5 at North Bay Battalion 4 (OT)

  • Owen Van Steensel scored the overtime game winning goal for the Barrie Colts to lift them to the win over his former North Bay Battalion team, Van Steensel also notched two assists for a three point performance
  • Edmonton Oilers prospect Dalyn Wakely had a four point performance, scoring two goals and adding two assists for Barrie
  • Jacob LeBlanc opened the scoring with his 10th goal of the season and had two assists down the stretch to help the Troops force overtime
  • NHL Draft prospect Kashawn Aitcheson scored his 25th goal of the season to extend his newly minted franchise record for goals by a defenceman for Barrie
  • Barrie goaltender Ben Hrebik made 28 saves in the overtime victory, and North Bay goalie Mike McIvor stopped 39 in the loss

Kingston Frontenacs 3 at Ottawa 67’s 2 (OT)

  • Vegas Golden Knights prospect Tuomas Uronen beat the buzzer to win the game for Kingston as he scored the game winning overtime goal with just 2.8 seconds remaining
  • Buffalo Sabres prospect Ethan Miedema had a two goal performance, including the game opening goal for the Fronts midway through the first period
  • Columbus Blue Jackets prospect and Ottawa 67’s captain Luca Pinelli got them on the scoresheet with his 35th goal of the season assisted by NHL Draft prospect Filip Ekberg
  • Frankie Marrelli’s late second period goal to tie the game would force overtime after a scoreless third period
  • Charlie Schenkel earned his 15th win as a member of the Kingston Frontenacs, making 22 saves along the way
  • Collin Mackenzie had a strong performance for Ottawa, stopping 28 of the 31 shots that he faced

Guelph Storm 4 at Erie Otters 6

  • NHL Draft prospect Malcolm Spence had a four point performance as he scored his 31st and 32nd goals of the season and had two assists including one on Sam Alfano’s game winning goal
  • Sam Alfano had a three point performance with two assists and the game winning goal to hit the 40 goal mark for the first time in his OHL career
  • Pano Fimis scored two unanswered goals for the Erie Otters in the first period as he hit the 30 goal mark for the first time in his OHL career
  • Jake Karabela hit the 10 goal mark on the season with his two goal performance to keep the Storm in the game late
  • Charlie Paquette extended his team lead in goals for the Guelph Storm as he scored his 36th of the season
  • Wesley Royston has a two point performance with a goal and an assist on Pano Fimis’ second goal of the game

London Knights 3 at Windsor Spitfires 8

  • Cole Davis put up a four point performance as he scored two goals and two assists for his second straight 20 goal season
  • Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan scored two goals to move to one away from a second straight 30 goal season
  • San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson recorded two assists on each of Easton Cowan’s goals to move into a tie for the all-time franchise lead in single season points by a defenceman
  • Landon Sim hit the 30 goal mark for the first time in his OHL career
  • NHL Draft prospect Jack Nesbitt had a two goal game to lead Windsor to victory
  • Los Angeles Kings prospect and Windsor Spitfires captain Liam Greentree scored his 49th goal of the season to move to one shy of his first career 50 goal season in the OHL
  • Conor Walton and Noah Morneau scored empty net goals for the Windsor Spitfires. Morneau’s goal extends his goal scoring streak to five straight games
  • Joey Costanzo made 17 saves to earn his his 33rd win of the season in his 50th start

Sudbury Wolves 2 at Oshawa Generals 3

  • Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Luca Marrelli had a two point performance on the Oshawa blue line with a goal and an assist
  • Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton was the lone goal scorer for the Sudbury Wolves as he put home two goals to put his total to 38 on the season
  • Owen Griffin and Nashville Predators prospect Andrew Gibson also put up two point performances with two assists each
  • Sudbury Wolves goaltender Nate Krawchuk had an exceptionally busy night in goal as he faced 53 shots and stopped 50 of them in the loss
  • Luke Torrance scored the game winning goal for the Oshawa Generals early in the second period for his 23rd of the season
