The Death Pool – Fighting In Junior Hockey

deathpool

Sorry if I  disappoint some of you folks, but today I am tackling a serious topic.  Fighting and the death of it in junior hockey.

Thats right people, it’s on its way out, you can almost count the days.  Say goodbye to the goons and the dumb dumbs, and the fans that scream for blood that the game no longer needs.  Thats right, the game no longer needs the fans that simply go for the fights, the game is better than that.  I wouldn’t mind watching a bunch of those fat asses in a cage match though! HA HA HA  Can you imagine them fighting while trying to keep from spilling their 5 gallon cup of Mountian Dew! HA HA HA

Fashizzle!  It’s about damn time!

Dont get me wrong kids, I am all for a good old scrap between two boys trying to settle a score.  But there is no room for the goon in the game any more.  The dummy who is only in the lineup to fight or try to hurt someone on the other team.  Its long over due for this player to be gone from the game.

It’s not like every player on the ice isn’t tough.  I mean really, from the smallest to the biggest, everyone takes and gives hits all season long.  It’s not like the game is soft or that the players are soft.

If anything the game is harder, tougher and faster than ever before.  Players eat so much damn steroid pumped chicken these days that no one needs to juice anymore!  They’re freaking huge!

Every player on the ice these days should be able to protect themselves.  It don’t matter if you’re five foot six or six-foot six, you can’t be some kind of wimp and lace em up these days.

Most of the goons are already gone, but hey, we still have plenty of dumb dumbs.  Thats right boys, you know who you are, the ones who play dirty and try to cheap shot the guy who just dangled you.  The player who isn’t good enough to compete with skill because he rely’s on being able to retaliate or jump the skilled guys.

I raise my glass to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.  The first league to publicly adopt the Canadian Junior Hockey Leagues “One Fight” rule proposal.  Starting next year boys, one fight and your done.  This coming from one of the top leagues in Canada that is traditionaly known for its toughness.

Currently, the MJHL employs a “two-fight rule” where players are ejected after the second fight in the same game. A related rule in the MJHL sees players face a one-game suspension, and teams a substantial fine, when a player exceeds their fifth fight in a season.

How many of the other leagues follow remains to be seen, but once you start the ball rolling it usually don’t stop until it comes to the bottom of the hill.

I’ll be back next week with my typical take on some of the teams we are all hopping and praying just fold up shop.  A quick shout out to the boys in New Mexico, I see you kicked some ass again this weekend!  If you can’t beat them…..Take em out for Chipotle! HA HA HA
