The Death Pool – Goodbye Rio Grande Hello Aston Pennsylvania

Well kids, its June 1st, and it finally looks like the NAHL Eastern Division is set with four teams.  So much for the potential six or eight team division though.  But hey, four is better than zero right?

Ohhhhhh yeah, well in order to get to four though, the Rio Grande Killer Bee’s needed to relocate the hive to Aston Pennsylvania.  Never heard of Aston?  Yeah, well neither did I until this thing got done.

Aston is just a little South and West of Philadelphia.  Looks like the Ice Works is going to be the new home.  What they will be named, now that’s been the subject of rumor for quite a while.  We probably don’t have enough Junior teams named the Flyers

So, toss some dirt on the Bee Hive.  One of the NAHL’s top ten in attendance has finally gotten tired of paying ridiculous arena lease fee’s and having two thirds of the building remain empty.

So yeah, it looks like the NAHL is now down to twenty two teams from twenty four last season.  Not too bad considering Wenatchee finally got approval to join the BCHL.  That announcement is expected to be made official some time today by the way.

Also gone are the Michigan Warriors, which could have been saved if not for a series of colossal mistakes in selling the franchise to groups out east who wanted to buy it.  Oh, and none of those mistakes were made by the Warriors kids.

Twenty two teams that could have been twenty five or twenty six if Brooklyn, Lewiston, Manchester, and one other location could have been wrapped up in a timely manner.

But who needs more expansion at Tier II at right?

Stay tuned kids, we got a few on life support already, special reports coming…..
