In a season where some in Port Huron’s political structure and others in McMorran Arena’s Management structure have not taken the time to open their eyes to what is going on around them, the Port Huron Fighting Falcons have done nothing but win all season long. When ever I say McMorran Arena Management I hear “circus music” in my head……do do doodle do do do doodle…….
I wonder if they arrive by clown car to work each day? If not I am sure they will when SMG takes over the building soon. The first move of SMG? That’s right kids, hire the same management team that’s currently there. Yep, they have done a bang up job!
In a sixty game season a record of 35 – 15 – 10 was good enough for 80 points, and a NAHL North Division Title. Not too bad for Head Coach Michael Gershon, in his first full season behind the bench. Not too bad for the Coach who actually got to pick his team this year instead of having to coach another Coaches players. 80 points in a season is Port Huron’s best ever total.
But hey, 80 points and a division championship cant be seen by arena management and people in the city who don’t attend games. Must be too busy doing all those USHL feasibility studies for that team that isn’t coming, to watch the team that is already there winning. I mean really, why appreciate what you have when you can try to get something else only to find out your own building isn’t good enough for a temporary move of a USHL team!
Yep, what’s that say about the Arena Management team who are supposed to be maintaining the arena? Bang up job boys!
LMAO Oh hey lets not forget to give a shout out to Dan Casey, CEO of the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County. Way to go Danny, you sure got this one right. How’d that survey work out for you? I wonder how smart all you guys will look when your next tenant is a shit show Federal League team or Tier III team. Economically develop that mess!
Yep I said shit show FHL. Don’t agree, just watch this video
Yep, that’s one professional hockey product there kids. Nothing like staging a fight to hug it out and crack open a beer on the ice. That has PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY written all over it. Nothing like setting an example for the kids right boys? Maybe that’s just a sign of what a joke the players think the league is, they don’t even respect it enough to not drink beer mid game!
But back to the team…. With coaching stability comes discipline.
Port Huron set a team records for fewest goals against over the course of the season as well. With only 151 goals scored against the Fighting Falcons were eight in the NAHL in goals against, while placing fourth in the league in goals scored.
The disciplined defense first structure also resulted in fewer penalty minutes. With only 828 total minutes in penalty’s the team blew away their previous low, and we second fewest in the NAHL. Less time in the box usually means more games won. I guess that equation was proven true.
Heading into the playoffs the Fighting Falcons are ready to fly. The only question is how far will they fly in the playoffs? Yep, I am sure all those city officials and arena management types will be there to watch the Fighting Falcons in the playoffs. Everyone loves the playoffs and the thought of a league championship.
While watching those playoff games, someone needs to ask the idiots running the arena and the city what fans will have to watch next year? Oh yeah that’s right, they’ll have a freaking Circus. do do doodle do do do doodle…….
