Oh hell yeah kids, I am about to get my Friday on if you know what I am saying! Got some scouting on schedule, and I can feel that spring weather rolling in. You know when spring comes people tend to get stupid, and stupid people do stupid things don’t they?!
So if you’re heading to a rink somewhere this weekend kids, and your one of these assholes who thinks its alright to hit people from behind, or use your stick as a weapon, you probably want to make sure mommy and daddy are carrying some bail money with them.
See, people are fed up with you idiots. And lets be honest here kids, its players like this who do this kind of crap repeatedly. You know the kids I am talking about, and all you kids know the ones I am talking about. They are the little punk that has a problem.
Well, turns out that in Canada people are getting tired of this kind of stupidity. There have been close to a half dozen arrests of these morons in the last two months or so at various rinks.
The latest took place in what was supposed to be a NON CONTACT Tournament! That’s right kids, a non contact event and some dummy has to go and hit a kid from behind so badly that he ends up getting charged with assault. The victim had to go to the hospital after being hit. We are not talking about some incidental contact here kids.
You think that a 17 yr old would know better? Or do you think this is the kind of play the kid makes on a regular basis?
I cant believe how stupid some players are today. I mean seriously, all the old timers I talk to don’t remember players hitting each other from behind as much as kids do today. They talk about respecting the other guys even though you didn’t like the other guys.
I wonder why that has changed. So I asked some people and they all pretty much said the same thing.
It is happening because players and coaches are focusing too much on winning and playing more games. There is not enough time spent on skill development and actually teaching the intricacies of the game. Learning how to hit and get it is just as important as learning how to pass the puck.
So, for all you morons who will hit someone from behind this weekend, keep your bail money handy. You might just be heading to a much harder penalty box.
