The Death Pool – Special Report – Beware Of Improper NCAA Claims And Actions By Advisers, Companies And Camps

Now, those of you expecting my usual schtick here concerning false claims being made by certain companies, and improper actions being taken that are direct NCAA violations are going to be disappointed.  I actually have to write a few serious articles a year, so this is one of those.

As many people know, our parent company also owns a player adviser service, the Pre Draft Combine, and several other hockey related products and services.

Because the company owns so many operations, and offers so much to so many players around the world, we have the most stringent NCAA compliance rules in the industry in place internally.  It is safe to say we spend more money on compliance than any other company we are aware of.

Training, education, participation in NCAA sponsored events, and the most direct access to NCAA compliance resources in the industry have set our company apart from the rest.

Imagine our shock and surprise when we find, or receive reports on business operations who are illegally holding themselves out to be something they are not, or who blatantly violate NCAA rules because they are so uneducated about the rules that they cant help themselves.

Here are some things to look out for;

Advisers, Camps, Services and other for profit groups CAN NOT use the NCAA logo.  If they do, there must be a signed advertising agreement that you can request a copy of from that company, and underneath the logo a certain legal disclaimer must be visible.  If you do not see the disclaimer, you already know they are not endorsed and do not have permission to use the logo.  That is a signal to stay away from that company.

Advisers, who use athletes names, pictures or likenesses of currently eligible NCAA student-athletes, unless specifically authorized by the NCAA and appropriate releases have been obtained, are in direct violation of NCAA rules.  Currently, eligible NCAA student-athletes, includes the names, pictures, and likenesses of current junior or other amateur hockey players.  Take note that all player photos used on WWW.HOCKEYTALENTMANAGEMENT.COM are those of clients who have exhausted their NCAA eligibility.

Athlete recruiting services, meaning Advisers are expressly prohibited from using the NCAA logo, or claiming an endorsement from the NCAA.

Camps or Showcases that endorse or support an Athlete recruiting service or Adviser service are also prohibited from using the NCAA logo, or claiming an endorsement from the NCAA.

Many of you are probably asking why would I choose to write this type of story now.

The reason why is simple.  Many “Advisers/Advisors” “Camps” and “Showcases” are violating the rules.  Many people are holding themselves out to be something they are not.  Many people are claiming to be experts when they clearly are not.  Being caught violating these very simple and most basic rules proves that some people do not know what they are doing.

These types of violations are taking place all across Canada, and in several instances in the United States.  Athletes who participate in these actions, or use of their names, pictures or likenesses, are risking their NCAA eligibility.  Ignorance of the rules is no excuse for a violation.

When you voluntarily or directly participate in rules violations, you will be held accountable for those violations.

On that note, we will be scouring the internet the next few weeks in preparation for a long overdue Black List.  In this Black List we will name the companies that are in violation of these rules.  This Black List will have camps, showcases and advisers.  It will simply be called “The Liars” Chapter.

If you know of companies in violation, you know what to do….[email protected]

Yeah, if you thought we stirred up a shit storm with the Black List of advisers a few months ago, just wait.  Oh, and speaking of that list, we got more complaints about one of those idiots on that list.  Hmmmmmmm I wonder how that police investigation is going?  Crazy how a phone call from the Po Po can get a kid a refund from a donkey isn’t it?
