You gotta crawl before you can walk, and walk before you can run. Yeah, you know, its simple common sense shit like that in life that effects all of us.
The same is true in business. Yeah, the hockey business too. The CPJHL has, in what really was a “quality control” move, killed off the Burks Falls Bruins. Smart move there boys because Burks falls was going no where fast.
No ice until the end of September? Seriously, what arena thinks they can host a team and not have ice until the end of September? Ummmmmmmm just a hint there kids, the season starts in the beginning of September with training camps in the rest of North America.
Lets also be honest, the idea of some rookie owners being able to pull off owning and operating two successful teams was just a bit naïve!
But hey, the league gets it right again. Someone took a Public Relations class in college. News, good or bad, has to be addressed. the CPJHL comes out and addresses everything good or bad. Shocking I know.
Hard for me to be too hard on them for being honest. No players screwed over, no parents screwed over, and everyone offered a new place to play. Sure, its inconvenient, sure it might be irritating, but that’s just life. Its business and shit happens.
Whats funny about this is yesterday the WSHL killed off Whitefish, and now the CPJHL kills off Burks Falls. The one thing in common with these teams from different countries? They are both AAU – UHU sanctioned teams. Maybe some other sanctioning bodies, leagues and team operators should take a few notes from them. You know, like how to address all news, both good and bad.
But hey, its a business and life moves on. The CPJHL is at eight teams. A much more manageable number of teams in its first year. Looks like a smart move to me.
Meanwhile, we got some other clowns pretending to be junior teams, and they are on the death watch. Its almost October so, in just two weeks everyone is slated to be competing. Keep those tips coming in kids.
